getting ready

Ten days until the reading begins. So, here are three things you can do in the next few days as you get ready to participate in the perfect 100:

1) Follow this link to get the reading plan

2) Select a Bible that will be your traveling companion for the summer. I recommend either the NRSV (New Revised Standard Version) or The Message. The NRSV is a great translation that stays closer to the original words, while the Message offers a looser translation (paraphrase) that sounds more familiar to 21st century ears while seeking to remain true to the original intent. If you’ve never read large sections of the Bible before (or even if you have), you may find the Message to be a great choice for readability as well as a refreshing take on familiar passages.

3) Subscribe to the blog and you’ll receive the daily update throughout the 100 days.

Looking forward to the journey with you.

  1. I was going to do the challenge by reading from my bible in Spanish (the version is called Dios Habla Hoy and it’s similar to the NIV, I think.) However, for practical reasons, I downloaded a bible in my iPad. It’s the NIV. My question is: as we go along, would we discuss if there are different interpretations based on translations or versions? Thanks, Steve. (By the way, I’m signed in with my wordpress name, but I’m Karina Long.)

If there are questions along the way about translation and/or interpretation, feel free to post comments. Questions always help stimulate discussion and sharing of thoughts/ideas.
