We’re only five days away from the beginning of our summer reading journey. If you haven’t already picked out a Bible to be your traveling companion, now would be a great time. In my blog post from May 20, I shared some thoughts about selecting a translation. There are also concise, helpful overviews of both the NRSV and the Message available at www.biblestudytools.com.
I mentioned the latest edition of Circuit Rider in my most recent post. It included an introductory column from retired Bishop Rueben Job. As you prepare to embark on this 100 day experience, consider these thoughts from him on why Bible study matters:
“Never underestimate the importance of continuous, regular, and honest. . .daily reading of the Scripture. It is our meditation on, study of, and wrestling with Scripture that keep the Word alive in us and the world.”
